株式会社ビクセンは、スマートフォン・タブレット向け無料アプリ「Planet Book（プラネットブック）」を本日、5月10日にリリースしました。惑星の見える位置や表面の模様の見え方をシミュレーションできるアプリです。

惑星の位置や見え方を再現
惑星を選択すると、画面左上に拡大表示されますので、水星や金星の満ち欠けの様子、木星の衛星の位置や大赤斑の位置、火星の表面の模様の状況などをあらかじめ知ることができます。拡大表示画面では、双眼鏡などで観測した時の正立表示、天体望遠鏡で観測した時の上下左右反転表示、天体望遠鏡に天頂プリズムを付けて観測した時の左右反転表示の3種類が選択でき、実際の見え方に合わせたわかりやすい表示が可能です。

5/31、最接近する火星の位置や模様の見え方の確認に便利
2016年5月31日には、火星が地球に最接近します。このPlanet Bookでは、火星がどのように見えるかをあらかじめ知ることができます。 また、2016年8月28日には、木星と金星の大接近が起こり、木星の一番外側を回る衛星のカリストよりも金星が木星に近づいて見えます。 Planet Bookがあれば、事前にどのように見えるのかを確認することが可能です。

星空観察に使える星図表示
惑星表示モードを終了すると、現在地で今見える星空の様子を知ることも可能です。 端末をかざした方向にある星空の様子を、リアルタイムに星図（星空の地図）で表示します。 ※地平線下の星図も表示できます。

ナイトビジョンモード
設定画面でナイトビジョンをオンにすると、星図の表示を夜間観察用に、目に刺激の少ないアンバー表示のモードに切り替えることができます。
